Questions

What is the difference between AAC and M4A?
AAC is the sound format. A .aac file holds that sound on its own; a .m4a file holds the same AAC sound inside an MP4 container. This tool reads both.
Why doesn’t my .aac file open in some programs?
A .aac file has no container around the sound, and some programs open AAC only inside .m4a or .mp4. MP3 opens almost everywhere.
Will the MP3 sound worse than the AAC?
Every conversion between compressed formats loses a little detail. If a program accepts AAC, keep the original; convert when you need MP3 specifically.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
Your file never leaves your device. It is converted right here, in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
