Convert MKV to MP3

Screen-recording programs and many video downloads save MKV. Take the sound out as an MP3 (128 kb/s) — the picture is left out.

Your file never leaves your device. It is converted right here, in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Questions

Which MKV soundtracks work?
AAC, Opus, Vorbis, MP3 and FLAC — what screen recorders and most downloads use. Film soundtracks in Dolby Digital (AC-3) or DTS many browsers can’t decode; then the tool says the conversion didn’t work.
My MKV has several audio tracks — which one is converted?
Only one track becomes the MP3 — the file’s main soundtrack. Additional tracks, such as other languages or commentary, are skipped.
Is a long recording a problem?
Not on a computer: the file is read piece by piece, so long recordings such as a full lecture work too. The progress bar shows how far along it is.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
Your file never leaves your device. It is converted right here, in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
