Convert subtitles to another frame rate

When the first subtitle fits but each next one is a little more off, the subtitles were made for a different frame rate than your video — for example a 23.976 fps film played at 25 fps. The tool recalculates every time so the subtitles keep pace with the video. The file stays in its format.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your subtitles are never uploaded.

How to change the frame rate of subtitles

  1. Paste the SRT or VTT subtitles or choose the file.
  2. Choose the frame rate the subtitles were made for and the frame rate of your video.
  3. Click “Recalculate times” and download the new file.

Questions

How do I know the frame rate is the problem?
If the subtitles are off by the same amount all the way through, they only need shifting in time. If the gap grows towards the end of the video, the frame rates differ.
Which frame rates do I choose?
First, the frame rate of the video the subtitles were made for — it is often in the file name, such as 23.976 or 25. Second, the frame rate of your video, which your player or the file properties show.
How are the times calculated?
SRT and VTT store times, not frames, so every time is multiplied by the old frame rate and divided by the new one. 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94 are calculated exactly, as 24000/1001, 30000/1001 and 60000/1001.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
Runs entirely in your browser. Your subtitles are never uploaded.
