Telegram voice messages to text with @SonaFactBot

Send or forward a voice message, an audio file or a video to the SonaFact bot in Telegram. It writes down what was said, with the speakers separated, and sends the text back to the same chat.

How it works, step by step

  1. Open @SonaFactBot in Telegram and press Start. The bot answers in the language of your Telegram app if SonaFact is available in it, and in English otherwise.
  2. Send or forward a voice message, a round video message, an audio file or a video. The language of the recording is detected automatically.
  3. The bot confirms it has the file and sends the transcript when it is ready: every line with its time and speaker. A long transcript arrives as a .txt file.
  4. With your account linked, the bot then sends a summary — every point shows the moment in the recording it comes from — and a link that opens the transcript in the editor.

With or without a SonaFact account

Without an account

One file of up to 5 minutes a day per Telegram account. You get the transcript in the chat; it is deleted after 24 hours, and there is no summary.

Linked to your account

Your plan's limits and your glossary apply, and the recording appears in your list of recordings, where you can edit, export and share it. The summary uses one AI job from your plan's daily allowance.

Link the bot to your account

  1. In SonaFact, open Settings and find the Telegram section.
  2. Click Link Telegram. Telegram opens the chat with the bot: press Start and the chat is linked to your account.
  3. Or send the bot /link followed by the code shown in SonaFact. The code works for 15 minutes.

  • /unlink — unlink it; your recordings stay in your account
  • /help — what the bot can do

Good to know

  • Telegram does not pass files larger than 20 MB on to bots. Upload a bigger file on the website instead.
  • Your file passes through Telegram's servers before it reaches SonaFact, and is then processed in the EU. The privacy policy describes this.
  • The bot works only in private chats; it does not respond in groups.
